Scottsdale Facelift

If you’re considering having a facelift, then you may have already thought about the healing that will be necessary afterward. As a facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Caniglia doesn’t consider his job to be finished as soon as you wake up from the anesthesia. He’s committed to supporting and enhancing your body’s natural healing process, using a variety of techniques.

Enhancing healing makes you feel more comfortable in the period following your procedure, and can help to decrease the amount of downtime that’s required for your healing. In addition, a healthy healing process helps to create the best possible results. Here are some of the ways Dr. Caniglia supports your healing after a facelfit.

Careful surgical technique

One of the most important factors in how you heal from a facelift is the surgical technique of the doctor who performs it. The more careful and precise the surgeon is during the procedure, the less extra bruising and swelling will likely occur. (Of course, great surgical technique also leads to better outcomes.)

As a specialist in facial plastic surgery, Dr. Caniglia has been able to develop an extremely high level of skill in these procedures. He keeps up-to-date on scientific research in the field, and incorporates the newest surgical technology and techniques to achieve great results. His support of your healing begins during the facelift procedure itself, as he carefully performs your surgery with the least possible damage to the body.

Tisseel VH

Dr. Caniglia also uses a medication known as Tisseel VH during facelifts. It contains a natural protein known as fibrin, which is involved in blood clots in the body. This is applied to the tissues during the procedure using a special handheld device. It helps to seal off open blood vessels, which minimizes bleeding, bruising, and swelling during and after the procedure. Tisseel VH is reabsorbed by the body within two weeks following the procedure.

Arnica montana

Arnica Montana (often known simply as Arnica) is a natural homeopathic medication. It’s commonly used to reduce inflammation. All of our patients receive Arnica to use after their procedures. While some degree of inflammation is actually necessary for healing, Arnica helps to ensure that the inflammation is not excessive so that it doesn’t interfere with healing.

Pre- and post-surgical care

Dr. Caniglia and his team are fully committed to your healing, and the process begins before you even have your procedure. You’ll receive a pre-surgery skin care kit, to help prepare your face for the procedure. After your facelift, you’ll be monitored by one of our attending aestheticians, and given a post-surgery skin care kit to help care for your face as it heals. Your aesthetician will recommend a maintenance protocol, so you can continue to maintain the best possible results for your skin as you enjoy your refreshed look over the following years.
