Important Information About Rhinoplasty Procedures in Scottsdale

While many cosmetic procedures used to be taboo in the United States, it has now become almost a standard amongst models, celebrities and most everyone. Many individuals rule their lives based on the simple idea that if they don’t like something about themselves then it is beneficial to change it. As a result, this ideology has drastically flowed over into obtaining cosmetic procedures. One of these cosmetic procedures, rhinoplasty, is becoming one of the more popular surgeries being performed in the US today.

Rhinoplasty FAQs

It is very important as with any other cosmetic procedure, for our patients to know that results may vary and a risk is always present. Rhinoplasty is a very safe procedure yielding excellent results. The more knowledge patients gain before rhinoplasty surgery, the smoother, less eventful recovery will be.  Below is a list of frequently asked questions that patients who desire a rhinoplasty in Scottsdale often ask.

What Are Some Reasons for Getting a Rhinoplasty?

The majority of the time, individuals are interested in a rhinoplasty procedure for one of two reasons: 1) Cosmetic and 2) Functional. Patients who are not happy with the appearance of their nose may invest in rhinoplasty (or nose job) to enhance facial features and obtain a look that is more aesthetically pleasing. Individuals that fall under the latter category undergo rhinoplasty surgery in Scottsdale as an effort to correct breathing or nasal structure issues that interfere with common functions like breathing and sleeping.

What Does the Procedure Consist Of?

In general, a typical nose job procedure will last one to one-and-a-half hours from beginning to end. Before the procedure begins, patients will be sedated with intravenous medication, which helps ensure a safe and comfortable surgery. Techniques vary from patient to patient, but, in general, incisions are hidden within the nasal cavity and at the base of the columella in order to camouflage any scarring. Dr. Caniglia then shapes the bone and cartilage through these incisions. In certain circumstances where cartilage affects breathing, a septoplasty may also be performed.

What is Recovery Like?

Most of our patients do not experience much pain within the recovery period. Common side effects of the procedure may include bruising, swelling, and slight nasal congestion within the first few days after the procedure. Many of our patients resume normal activities within a week and can begin physical activity in the following three to six weeks.
