Juvéderm® Vollure XC

Juvéderm® Vollure XC Scottsdale: An injectable formulated for use in the nasolabial folds

One of the common signs of aging is the deepening of the nasolabial folds. Sometimes known as “marionette lines,” these are the lines that go from the outside of the nose to the corners of the mouth. These lines form when smiling or laughing, but on a youthful face, they aren’t very apparent at other times. As the skin of the face loses volume and elasticity, they tend to become deeper and more apparent, making people look older.

One way to reduce the appearance of the nasolabial folds is to have a facelift. However, surgery isn’t right for everyone, and many people would prefer a non-surgical solution. Patients in this situation may choose hyaluronic acid fillers. For the nasolabial folds, the filler of choice is usually Juvéderm® Vollure XC.

What is Juvéderm® Vollure XC?

Juvéderm® Vollure XC is FDA-approved for injection into the mid-face to treat skin wrinkles and folds, especially nasolabial folds. Juvéderm® Vollure XC is made from hyaluronic acid (HA). This is a natural substance that’s found in your skin and other tissues, where it holds moisture and helps maintain volume. Injection of HA into an area gives added volume. The effect can last for months or even years before another injection is needed.

How is Juvéderm® Vollure different from other forms of Juvéderm®?

In the past few years, the technology behind these injectable hyaluronic acid products has advanced, and several new fillers have become available. These include Juvéderm® Voluma XC, Vollure XC, and Volbella XC. All three are hyaluronic acid products, and they use a proprietary technology for creating chemical cross-links between the HA units, to help the effects of injection last longer. The difference between these three lies in the thickness of the product.

Of these three products, Juvéderm® Vollure XC has an intermediate consistency. While Juvéderm® Voluma XC has a large particle size and is used for adding volume to the cheeks and mid-face, and Juvéderm® Volbella XC has a small particle size and is used in the delicate regions around the eyes and mouth, Juvéderm® Vollure XC is in between. This gives it more robust staying power (like Voluma), so that it lasts for a longer time, but it also has flexibility (like Volbella), allowing the patient to have natural-looking expressions without the interference of an overly stiff or thick filler.

What is the procedure for getting Juvéderm® Vollure XC?

The process for getting a filler injection is simple and convenient. You will only require one appointment with Dr. Caniglia. He will examine your face to determine which product(s) would work best to achieve the results you want, and how much Juvéderm® Vollure XC is needed to achieve the results you want. He then injects the product into the desired areas using a needle. Like other products in this line, Juvéderm® Vollure XC is formulated with a topical anesthetic, which helps to make the injection process more comfortable by numbing the area. After the injection, Dr. Caniglia may massage the area to ensure that the product is in the exact location desired. After your injection, you will be able to resume your normal activities as soon as you feel ready. However, we generally recommend that you plan to take it easy for the first 24 hours.
