M22™ Scar Reduction

Scar Reduction Scottsdale

Nearly everyone has scars. Any time the skin is injured significantly, a scar will form as a result. A healthy scar will be raised and pink in its early stages, but will gradually flatten and fade over the next few months, being nearly invisible by about a year after the surgery or injury that caused it. Although it will still be possible to see the scar if you look closely enough, it won’t have much of an impact on your appearance.

However, for some people, scars become a more serious problem. Certain scars may be raised rather than flattened. They may be dark instead of fading to light, or they may be too light on dark skin. Some patients are prone to forming keloids, which are large growths at the site of a scar. In addition, inflammatory conditions like acne may lead to pitted scars across the face. All of these issues can result in a scar that does significant damage to your self-esteem and confidence.

How can problematic scars be treated?

Fractional laser resurfacing can be an excellent option for helping to improve the appearance of scars. By stimulating the skin’s natural healing processes, and increasing the production of collagen, lasers can be used to cause scars to shrink.

If a more intensive treatment is needed, then a non-ablative laser resurfacing can provide more dramatic results. IPL treatment can also be helpful to reduce redness or pigmentation in the scar.
