Provider: Ronald J. Caniglia, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Radiesse™ is a safe, long-lasting treatment unlike any other used to soften facial lines, wrinkles, and scars. It is a completely synthetic compound comprised of calcium hydroxyappetite, a natural substance already in the body. Radiance is soft and natural with no history of allergic reactions. Common areas injected include the smile lines, the corners of the mouth, acne depressions, and the jaw line.
Radiesse works by stimulating new tissue. It produces an initial plumping of the skin which can be seen within the first three months after injection. Additional correction then occurs over a period of twelve to twenty-four months as new tissue regenerates.
Radiesse is often injected in a physician’s exam room on an outpatient basis. A local or topical anesthetic may be used and the procedure may last anywhere from fifteen to forty minutes depending on the degree of treatment. Dr. Caniglia uses very fine needles to inject the Radiesse directly into the skin.
Patients may experience some mild discomfort or tenderness, along with mild swelling or redness, but these side effects tend to clear up quickly. Work and other normal activities can typically be resumed immediately after treatment. Results are immediate and may last for years.
