Procedure description: Dysport is now approved for use in the United States. Used in patient care in the U.K. since 1991 and in 27 countries for aesthetic use, Dysport is now available for the treatment of facial wrinkles. By relaxing muscles, it helps to soften facial wrinkles. It lasts on the average 3-4 months and can be repeated as often as necessary.
Best Candidate: Dysport is very helpful for those patients with horizontal wrinkles of the forehead, vertical frown lines between the brows and for wrinkles around the eyes (crow's feet). It can also be used for dimpling of the chin and lines around the mouth.
Location of procedure: The procedure is performed in a doctor's office exam room.
Length of procedure: 5 minutes
Anesthesia: There is no anesthesia needed.
Technique: A very fine needle is used to precisely place the Dysport in the appropriate muscles.
Recovery: There is usually no down time with this procedure. Most patients return to normal activities the next day.
