jowl lift
Technically there is not a surgical procedure known as a "jowl lift." The jowls are lifted along with the neck area, in what is called a facelift. Some prefer to call this a lower facelift or minilift. In the medical/surgical literature, a facelift really only addresses the cheeks, jowls and neck. A facelift has nothing to do with the eyes or brows. It is extremely important when considering facial rejuvenation surgery to make sure the appropriate procedure is chosen to address the problem area. These procedures are meant to be performed in a very specific way, and if the surgeon deviates from this, or another words, tries to cut corners or do less to get the same result, the results will suffer and more often than not, the scars are bad. It is also important to not get caught up in "trendy" procedures with fancy names, thus the "fad free" facelift, ie. stay away from fads and trends as these are nothing more than marketing ploys. I always tell my patients, do what is proven, what's effective and what the medical literature supports. It is also extremely important to consult with a facial plastic surgeon who has expertise in facial rejuvenation surgery.
